Detect and manage product relations with PowerRelate
Purpose: In this article, you will learn how to use PowerRelate to automatically detect and manage product relations within your assortment. You will be guided step by step through the use of the variants module so you know exactly what to expect.
What is PowerRelate?
PowerRelate is an AI-powered tool that fully automates the management of product relations. Instead of manually assigning variants, accessories, or alternatives, PowerRelate analyzes your product data in real time to detect and update relations automatically. This results in a well-organized and up-to-date catalog while eliminating human error.
The technology behind PowerRelate uses self-learning algorithms to provide deep product insights. This means you not only receive accurate recommendations but also a clear overview of product attributes and statuses.

How to use PowerRelate
PowerRelate is designed to help you easily detect and manage product relations within your catalog. The process includes a few clear steps: importing your product data, letting the AI analyze relations, reviewing and refining the results, and exporting the validated relations. Let’s go through it step by step
Import your product data
- Go to 'Home' and click 'Import'.
- Select the correct file containing your product data.
- Click 'Upload' to import your file
Note: If you are using the API connection, manual uploads are not necessary. Your products will be imported in real time directly from your PIM system.
Let the AI algorithm analyze your assortment
- After uploading, PowerRelate automatically begins building a personalized algorithm for your product assortment.
- Wait for your contact person to notify you once clustering is complete.
You can always re-cluster your data later via the Variant Clustering Page. Learn more about this in our guide ‘Managing and adjusting cluster settings‘.
Note: You can discuss specific features you would like to use for clustering with your contact person in advance, or you can leave this entirely up to the AI.
Review and refine product relations
- Review the product relations proposed by the AI.
- View them per cluster or in bulk.
- For each cluster, you can approve, reject, or edit.

Make manual adjustments
- Add attributes to clusters using the Add feature button.
- Split clusters that are too broad using the Split cluster button.
- Add products to an existing cluster using the Add product button.
Export validated product relations
- Once you have finished reviewing a product group, click 'Export'.
- Download the file containing validated product relations.
- Import this data into your PIM system to ensure relations are visible on your website.
Note: If you are using the API, this happens automatically and you will receive live updates on newly detected relations.
Good to know
The Probability score indicates how confident the AI is about a particular relations. Higher scores mean higher confidence. If you want to save time, start reviewing items with lower scores.
The tool analyzes not just product features, but also goes beyond sales patterns, resulting in more nuanced and relevant product relations.
PowerRelate continuously improves through your feedback. The more you use and refine the system, the more accurate the suggested relations will become.
