Using the Dictionaries feature
Goal: In this article, you’ll learn how to use PowerText’s Dictionaries feature to ensure your brand terminology is consistently reflected in your product descriptions.
What is the Dictionaries feature?
The Dictionaries feature allows you to automatically override standard translations with brand-specific terms, preferred phrasing, or consistent terminology. By uploading a custom dictionary with the original word or phrase in the first column and your preferred replacement in the second, you can ensure that specific terms such as brand names or slogans always appear exactly the way you want.
Use the Dictionaries feature when you want to:
- Ensure consistency in terminology across your brand.
- Enforce specific formatting of words (e.g. all caps).
- Enforce preferred translations for (brand) terms.

Good to know
- You can use the replace dictionary in both the GenAI and Translate modules, while the language dictionary is only available in the Translate module.
- For language dictionaries, you can select one dictionary per language. If you are translating into multiple languages at once, you can assign a separate dictionary for each target language.
